Personal Safety and Self Defense for children, teens and adults.

Traveling Instructors, bringing services to your community.

BRINGING SERVICES TO YOUR COMMUNITY

Instructors and trainers are available to travel to teach any of our programs to children, teens, and adults.

Everyday Safety Skills workshops require one instructor and teach self protection, boundary-setting, and self confidence. Full Force Workshops require at least two instructors and add the opportunity of full force practice of self defense skills on a head-to toe padded instructor in addition to the Everyday Safety Skills training. Everyday Safety Skills Introductory Training of Professionals requires a trainer who will prepare teachers, counselors, police officers, and other professionals to integrate concepts and activities from our programs into their professions. In each workshop, the more time we have and the fewer students, the more opportunity there is for individual practice of the specific skills.

The big extra cost of importing an instructor to a new location for both the sponsor and for our organization is the travel.

The airfare and other costs for the sponsor and the extra time involved for our staff. For this reason, it makes a lot of sense for the sponsor to do a number of programs in a short period of time.

For example, we did three two-hour Everyday Safety workshops for the Girl Scouts in Austin in one day, plus a two-hour parent education program. At the Space Needle in Seattle, we did 5 three-hour FULLPOWER full force workshops plus an Everyday Safety parent-child workshop in two days and one night.

In both cases, because we are a nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status, corporate sponsorships were found to subsidize heavily the costs.

The sponsor covers all of the out-of-pocket costs for airfare, airport parking, arranges lodging, meals, and transportation (as long as things are safe, clean, comfortable, and healthy, this does not have to be fancy--home cooked food and staying in a private room in people's homes are fine with us), and other needs like the teaching room, which is usually donated space, refreshments for the participants, photocopying of materials we provide, etc.

The following fees can vary depending on the location, the availability of instructors and the level of experience needed.

When no center is close by, Everyday Safety Programs costs include the travel and expenses of one instructor and a flat fee of $3,000 per day for an out-of-town program.

When no center is close by, Introductory Training of Professionals costs include the travel and expenses for one trainer plus a flat fee of $4,000 per day for a minimum of two days and $85 per participant for the manuals.

When no center is close by, Full Force Programs with the head-to-toe padded instructor costs include the travel and expenses of two instructors plus a flat fee of $4,000 per day.

These fees are paid to the KIDPOWER Central Office directly and we pay the instructors as well as cover other overhead costs.

For public workshops we organize ourselves, we do fundraising, which makes it possible to have a very generous scholarship policy so that no one is turned away for lack of money.

For specially-organized workshops, it is the responsibility of the sponsor to handle scholarships through your own local fundraising. Again, all donations are tax deductible.
