Personal Safety and Self Defense for children, teens and adults.Government partnersGovernment PartnersWe appreciate the leadership shown by our government partners in their sponsorship of specific KIDPOWER projects promoting community safety locally and internationally. In Santa Cruz County, the sponsorship of the Santa Cruz and Watsonville Police Departments makes it possible for KIDPOWER to provide Parent Child Workshops to local families. Grant support from the Santa Cruz Commission for the Prevention of Violence Against Women is helping with the development of a pilot program at Branciforte Middle School to create a school-wide commitment to integrating the teaching of People Safety Skills into their activities. A generous grant from the Canadian International Development Agency launched our highly successful Reaching Out Project by sponsoring delegates to our 2005 International Conference from developing countries. The Reaching Out Project provides KIDPOWER training to social service professionals working with individuals living in dangerous life situations around the world so that they can foster the development of relevant People Safety skills in their own communities. |
