Our General Policy
Kidpower™ recognizes the importance of protecting information we may collect from visitors to our site. Our policy is to use the information we acquire from visitors to our sites for internal purposes only, and we maintain appropriate security measures to keep this information private. The only exception is "Postings" which is discussed in terms of use. Your browser, however, does automatically tell us the type of computer and operating system you are using.
Users can visit the site without revealing any information about themselves. If one chooses to give us personal information via the Internet for the purposes of correspondence, processing an order, or providing a subscription to a publication, then it is our intent to let you know how we will use such information.
If users tell us that they do not wish to have this information used as a basis for further contact, we will respect those wishes. If users wish, they can review or correct the personal information we have collected. We do keep track of the domains from which people visit us. We analyze this data for trends, insights and statistics, and then we discard it. Information may be maintained on an opt in basis only for receipt of communication and products from Kidpower. Only users of 13 years or older can opt in.
Kidpower™ takes precautions to keep the user information disclosed to us secure, and such information will not be disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and to ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. Kidpower™ uses SSL encryption for all financial transactions to protect personal information.
Use of Cookies
Certain sections of the Kidpower™ web site use "cookies" to store user information. A cookie is a small string of text that a web site can send to your browser. A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from your hard drive, pass on computer viruses, or capture your email address. Currently, web sites use cookies to enhance the user's visit; in general, cookies can securely store a user's ID and password, personalize home pages, identify which parts of a site have been visited, or keep track of selections in a "shopping cart." We collect two types of information:
1. Standard Web server traffic pattern information. General traffic, site usage, and length of stay information is collected and stored in log files. Log files are transaction records maintained on Web servers to record information such as: Service provider IP addresses, browser versions, referring web sites, average number of pages requested, average duration of visit to the Site, and total visitor traffic. This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.
2. Personal information. We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly, as described below.
Financial Contributions
If you choose to make a financial contribution, we require your contact information and collect standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) and keep a record of your donation. Credit card numbers are held only until the charge can be processed (usually several minutes), and then the number is only available for purposes of problem resolution.
Online Purchases
If you choose to purchase materials from our online bookstore, we require your contact information and collect standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) and keep a record of your purchase. Credit card numbers are held in a secure database for a limited amount of time, and then the number is only available for purposes of problem resolution.
E-Newsletter Signup
If you wish to opt in to our free e-newsletter, you will be required to provide your email address, first name, last name, city, and country. You will not be added to our mailing list without consent, and we will not use this information to contact you for any other purposes. Recipients may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the provided unsubscribe link within the email or by emailing us.
Security
We use appropriate security measures (including encryption and other electronic and procedural safeguards) in order to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of personal information under our control. However, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Consequently, Donate Life Northwest, our service providers and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents do not represent, warrant or guarantee that personal information will be protected against misuse, loss or alterations.
