Berkeley Area

DIRECTIONS TO THE BLACK PINE CIRCLE LOWER SCHOOL

From Highway 80/580 in Berkeley

  1. Take the University Avenue Exit.
  2. Head East, toward the hills, away from the bay.
  3. After coming off the overpass, you will come to a lit intersection.
  4. This is Sixth and University.
  5. Go through the intersection.
  6. The next street is Seventh.
  7. Turn Right on Seventh.
  8. 2027 is the last building on the left at the end of the block.

** You will see a building on the right, labeled Black Pine Circle. This is the Upper School on Sixth. We are NOT meeting there. On Seventh, Black Pine Circle School has two buildings, and upper school and a lower school. We are meeting at the LOWER SCHOOL. Please follow the signs saying KIDPOWER.

White Magnolia Tai Chi School is located in a friendly neighborhood business district in Kensington, just over the Berkeley border, next door to Catharine Hiersoux’s Pottery Studio.

FROM BAY AREA:

  1. Take I-880N or I-580W toward Oakland
  2. Merge onto I-80E
  3. Take exit 13A for Buchanan St. toward Albany
  4. Turn right onto Buchanan St.
  5. Slight right onto Marin Ave.
  6. Turn left onto San Pablo Ave.
  7. Turn right onto Solano Ave.
  8. Turn left onto Colusa Ave.
  9. Destination will be on right.

PARKING: There is free unlimited parking in front of the building and on surrounding streets.


Oakland Area

From Highway 580 in Oakland:

  1. Take the Harrison Street/MacArthur Boulevard Exit
  2. Merge onto Santa Clara Ave.
  3. Take a slight right onto MacArthur Boulevard
  4. Turn right onto Broadway.
  5. Turn left onto 40th St.
  6. Take the first right onto Manila Ave.
  7. Turn left onto 42nd Ave.

From Highway 24 E toward Walnut Creek:

  1. Exit 51st Street in Oakland
  2. Turn right onto 52nd St.
  3. Continue onto 51st St. and cross Telegraph Ave.
  4. Turn right onto Shafter Ave.
  5. Turn left onto 42nd St.

Street parking is available in front of the school.

Walk to the gate. The pedestrian gate is to the right of the car gate. You will see a silver keypad similar to a phone keypad to the left of the gate. This also has a speaker, but the speaker will not reach anyone. Please enter the access code emailed to you prior to the workshop. Follow the signs on along the pedestrian path directing you to the Great Room in the Magnolia Building. Please stay on the walkway and out of the drive circle in front the school to avoid the magnolia tree, which is very old and has delicate roots as well as branches. Please be sure you and your kids do not go under – or on – the tree. Thank you!


Palo Alto Area

DIRECTIONS TO PACCC KIDS CLUB EL CARMELO – In a portable building between the two play structures on the playground of the El Carmelo campus

From US-101

  1. Take the OREGON EXPWY exit towards SAN JOSE
  2. Continue on OREGON EXPY
  3. Turn LEFT on WAVERLEY ST
  4. Turn RIGHT on EL CARMELO AVE
  5. Turn LEFT on BRYANT ST
  6. CONTINUE to the next intersection and go RIGHT on Loma Verde. About halfway down the block on your right, you will see a play structure and a large portable, separate from the main school. This is the workshop site.

PARKING: There is ample parking on the street.

The gate entrance is very close to the play structure. When you come through the gate, the portable will be on your left. Walk up the ramp into the main door, which opens toward the play structure area. Please follow the signs saying KIDPOWER.


San Francisco Area

BART:

825 Howard Street is just 0.3 miles from the Powell Street BART Station in Downtown San Francisco. We recommend the Market to Fourth to Howard route for families with children. This route will also take you past family-friendly stores such as Target, Starbucks, Chipotle, and the Oasis Grill. The Children’s Creativity Museum and Yerba Buena Center are at the corner of Howard and Fourth.

From the top of the escalator/staircase out of the main entrance of the Powell Street BART Station, head northeast on Market Street toward Fourth Street, which is between Old Navy and Ross Dress for Less. Go right onto Fourth Street, between Old Navy and Ross.   Go through the first four-way intersection at Fourth and Mission. Continue to the next four-way intersection at Fourth and Howard. Cross Howard so that you are on the southeast side of Howard. Go right on Howard, away from Yerba Buena. ILRCSF at 825 Howard is about 1/3 of the way down the block. The workshop space opens directly onto the street on the ground floor, so you will see us!

Parking:  

The nearest parking garage is at 833 Mission Street (between 4th and 5th) and is called the Fifth and Mission/Yerba Buena Parking Garage. It is around the corner from the Independent Living Resource Center, and is approximately a 10 minute walk.  *Please note: The Yerba Buena Parking Garage on Mission has rates of $2.00-3.50 an hour, depending on the time of day.  

Driving Directions:

From the East Bay to the Fifth and Mission/Yerba Buena Parking Garage:

  1. From Oakland, take the Bay Bridge into San Francisco and exit onto 5th Street.
  2. Continue on 5th Street, then turn right onto Mission St. The Yerba Buena Garage will be on the right, between 4th and 5th Streets. Follow the directions below from the parking garage to the Independent Living Resource Center.

From the North Bay to the Fifth and Mission/Yerba Buena Parking Garage:

  1. Take the Golden Gate Bridge onto the Presidio Parkway and Lombard St.
  2. Turn right onto Van Ness Ave.
  3. Turn left onto Golden Gate Ave.
  4. Turn right at the 3rd cross street onto Hyde St.
  5. Continue as Hyde turns slightly left and becomes 8th St.
  6. Turn left onto Mission St.  The Yerba Buena Garage will be on the right, between 4th and 5th Streets.  Follow the directions below from the parking garage to the Independent Living Resource Center.

From the Peninsula to the Fifth and Mission/Yerba Buena Parking Garage:

  1. 1. Take Highway 101 North into San Francisco.
  2. Take exit 430A toward Downtown, and merge onto Highway 280 N.
  3. Exit at 6th Street.
  4. Turn right on Brannan Street.
  5. Turn left onto 5th Street.
  6. Turn right onto Mission St.  The Yerba Buena Garage will be on the right, between 4th and 5th Streets.  Follow the directions below from the parking garage to the Independent Living Resource Center.

Walking Directions from the Yerba Buena Parking Garage to the Independent Living Resource Center:

  1. Walk down Mission Street towards 4th St.
  2. Turn right on 4th St.
  3. Turn right onto Howard St.  ILRCSF at 825 Howard is about 1/3 of the way down the block. The workshop space opens directly onto the street on the ground floor, so you will see us!

Santa Cruz Area

From Highway 17 & Highway 1 Junction:

  1. Take the Ocean Street exit
  2. Turn right on Soquel Avenue
  3. Turn left on Front Street
  4. Turn right on Laurel Street

The Police Department is on the corner of Laurel and Center Streets.

PARKING: Parking is available in the Police Department lot adjacent to the main entrance.

At the Police Department, please follow the signs saying KIDPOWER to the room we will be in for the workshop.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SANTA CRUZ MONTESSORI SCHOOL (Main Campus)

FROM HIGHWAY 1

  1. Exit at Park Avenue toward Cabrillo College.
  2. Head north on Park Avenue, away from the ocean, for .3 miles.
  3. Turn right on Soquel Drive. Drive .2 miles and school will be on your right.

PARKING: In the lot in front of the school. At the school, please follow the signs saying KIDPOWER to the room we will be in for the workshop.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SANTA CRUZ MONTESSORI SCHOOL (Winston Campus)

FROM HIGHWAY 1

  1. Exit at Park Avenue toward Cabrillo College.
  2. Head north on Park Avenue, away from the ocean, for .1 miles.
  3. Turn left at the light on Cabrillo College Drive.
  4. Follow the road around to the left, and at the cul-de-sac turn right into the driveway.
  5. The school is the two-story building on your right.

PARKING: Park in any of the parking spots in the school parking lot.

Entrance to the building is on the side of the school furthest from the highway.

At the school, please follow the signs saying KIDPOWER to the room we will be in for the workshop.


Larkspur Area

From Hwy 101 N

  1. Take the Lucky Drive exit
  2. Right on Highway
  3. Right on Wornum Drive
  4. Right on Tamal Vista Blvd
  5. Left on Fifer Ave
  6. Left on Lucky Drive
  7. Right on Doherty Drive for approx half mile
  8. The police department will be on the right.

From Highway 101 S

  1. Take the Lucky Drive/Doherty Drive exit
  2. Merge onto Fifer
  3. Left on Lucky Drive
  4. Right on Doherty Drive for approx. half mile
  5. The police department will be on the right.

PARKING: In the Hall Middle School parking lot across the driveway from the police department, or in Piper Park directly behind the police department.


Watsonville Area

From Highway 1 South coming from the Santa Cruz area:

  1. Take the Freedom/Airport Blvd. exit.
  2. Turn left onto Ranport Rd. just off the freeway, and then another left onto Airport Blvd.
  3. Follow Airport Blvd. for approximately 2 miles.
  4. Airport Blvd. will turn to the right and become Holohan Rd. Stay on Holohan for approximately 1.5 miles.
  5. Turn right onto East Lake Ave/Highway 152.
  6. Watsonville Taekwondo Academy is in a shopping center on the left side of the street, less than a mile from the intersection of Holohan and Highway 152.

From Highway 1 North coming from the Monterey area:

  1. Take the Highway 129/Riverside Dr. exit in Watsonville.
  2. Keep right at the fork and merge onto Highway 129 E/Riverside Drive. Stay on for approximately 1.5 miles.
  3. Turn left onto Lincoln St.
  4. Take the 3rd right onto East Lake Ave/Highway 152.
  5. Watsonville Taekwondo Academy is in a shopping center on the right side of the street, less than a mile from the intersection of Lincoln St. and Highway 152.

PARKING: Please park anywhere in the shopping center lot.
