Kidpower in Pennsylvania, founded in 2017 by Tarra Maeshima, provides comprehensive safety education skills to children ages 3-18 and their families. Kidpower’s mission is to teach young people personal safety and confidence-building skills to reduce their risk of abduction, assault and emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Our programs are known worldwide for being positive, practical, safe and age-appropriate
Personal safety is a topic that I am passionate about and Kidpower has provided me with a vehicle through which I can meaningfully contribute in my community. It warms my heart to watch children and their adults learn Kidpower skills and harness the power they already have to help them stay safe.
~ Tarra Maeshima, Kidpower Pennsylvania Director
Bravo for Kidpower Pennsylvania! As a clinician, psychotherapist and family counselor for more than 35 years, I am happy to recommend Kidpower as a gold standard for teaching important social safety skills.
In an environment of support and mutual learning, Kidpower is a structured educational program that is both interactive and inter-generational. The exercises teach parents and their children how to build awareness, confidence and competence, define appropriate boundaries, safe touch, and even how to protect oneself from bullies and strangers. These essential life skills are critical in this digitally-connected time where the key to being safe is to look up from our screens, pay attention to each other, the world around us, and the feelings within us.
