Workshops for All Ages

Each type of workshop listed below can be tailored to the specific needs of your group. For more information, contact a Kidpower center near you.

Kidpower Child Protection for Adults

Adults learn skills to keep kids safe with people including strangers, peers, and others at school, online, at home, and out in the world. Your workshop can highlight a topic, such as bullying or online safety, or a specific group, such as early childhood, middle school, or kids with special needs.

Kidpower Starting Strong

With their adults, kids 3-5 learn powerful, age-appropriate social safety skills through storytelling, puppets, and fun, interactive role-plays.

Kidpower Safety

With their adults, kids 5-12 practice age-appropriate social safety skills to have more fun and fewer problems with peers, family, strangers, and others at school, at home, online, out in the world – everywhere! You can choose to limit your age span more narrowly within the 5-12 range.

Teenpower Safety

Teens practice social safety skills to prevent violence, strengthen communication, manage conflict, de-escalate confrontation, and avoid or leave potentially dangerous situations in the real world and online.

Kidpower/Teenpower School or Group

Teachers, counselors, coaches, aftercare or youth group staff, and other adult leaders together with their class/group of children or teens practice age-appropriate social safety skills to have more fun and fewer problems with peers, family, strangers, and others at school, at home, online, out in the world – everywhere! Can highlight a topic such as bullying prevention, field trip safety, or online safety. Includes school class workshops and assemblies for children 5-11 (US grades K-5).

Fullpower Safety

Adults practice social safety skills to prevent violence, strengthen communication, manage conflict, de-escalate confrontation, and avoid or leave potentially dangerous situations in the real world and online, on their own or while providing care for others.

Professional Development

Professionals learn how to incorporate Kidpower skills and methodology into their standard practices in educational, health, and social service agencies in order to foster positive social safety skill development. Workshops are coordinated by individual schools/agencies, for their own staff at their own site, and are tailored to the specific contexts of the participants, ranging from teachers to shelter staff to occupational therapists to camp counselors to coaches.

In addition, Kidpower also sponsors two types of intensive training open to individual adult applicants:

  • Kidpower’s Child Protection Advocates Training Institute offers a unique opportunity for adults to learn to use Kidpower’s prevention, advocacy, intervention, and personal safety strategies and skills to take charge of the safety and well-being of the children and teens in their personal and professional lives. Our 2016 Summer Institute in California this August has participants coming from around the world! Dates for Summer 2017 will be announced in January. Contact us to inquire about organizing a child safety leadership training for your organization, or members of your community!
  • Kidpower Instructor Certification and Core Program Training (CPT) – We are currently accepting applications for our annual 6-day Kidpower Core Program Training: How to Use the Positive Practice Method to Teach People Safety Skills to Children and Their Adults — January 2017. This program is primarily for people who want to become certified as Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International instructors and also for people who want to audit the program to use in their personal and professional lives without becoming certified.

By organizing the Teenpower class, we were able to make this experience happen not only for our daughter but also for so many of her friends. In addition to getting individual skills, they learned skills and language for setting up safety plans with each other when they go out together. A Relieved Parent

Private Workshop Organizer

We first worked with Kidpower after a couple of concerning incidents that left our teachers, aides, and family service workers concerned for their own safety. The Fullpower adult program helped our staff learn how to protect themselves from possible danger and how to de-escalate confrontations. Cynthia Yao

More Comments from Past Workshop Organizers

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace, but our employees sometimes worry about their safety arriving early or staying late. By organizing a Fullpower class for our employees, we were able to take positive action to address their concerns.
