June is Pride Month in many places including the US and Canada, and we’re excited to give you free access to a 60-minute Pridepower Workshop recording about how to stay safe in public gatherings and events.
All year long, community groups organize Pridepower workshops exclusively for their members, and we do not record or share these private workshops.
In honor of Pride Month, we brought together some LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies happy to participate in a live workshop that would be recorded so that you could learn along with them and the workshop leader, Community Education Director Erika Leonard, herself a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
This workshop recording is full of skills you can use right away so you can have more fun and fewer safety problems as you gather and celebrate – throughout Pride Month and beyond. You’ll learn strategies to:
-
- Stay emotionally safe in the face of verbal slurs and attacks
- Project awareness, calm, and confidence – no matter how you feel
- Advocate and set boundaries to protect safety and well-being
In these challenging times, it’s as important as ever to gather together in community to connect and celebrate – and, it’s also as important as ever to prepare ourselves, our loved ones, and our community members with skills to stay safe in the face of possible trouble so that we can have fewer problems – and a lot more fun and joy.
There are many engaging training videos in the free Pridepower online course in the Safetypowers Learning Center.
