Why Your Gift Makes a Difference!

“When a large older boy threatened to drown my 10-year old daughter, she yelled until he left her alone!”

Knowing your kids can protect themselves gives parents enormous peace of mind!

Three years after her Kidpower Safety and Self-Defense Workshop, my young tween daughter Angie went to her first overnight camp. We didn’t know that the supervision was far less than we had been promised.

Late one afternoon, when the counselors were not paying attention, an older teenage boy cornered my daughter in a quiet area near the lake. He came towards her saying he was going to drown her if she didn’t give him a kiss.

Angie did just what she’d practiced in the Kidpower class. She got into “Ready position” and yelled over and over, “Stop! Leave! Help!!” Finally, the boy ran off. She then hurried to the Camp Director’s office, but he tried to minimize what had happened by saying it was probably just a joke. She insisted on calling me anyway thanks to what she had learned at Kidpower, and I came out to get her and to report what had happened to the police.

What Angie had practiced three years earlier came back to her in her time of need – and certainly saved her from harassment and maybe even from being drowned. I’ve made sure to tell other parents just how valuable Kidpower is in giving us resources to protect our kids.
